2and 250 men of b’neiYisrael leaders of the congregation, chosen for the meeting, men of name. 3They ganged up on Mosheh and Aharon, saying, “A lot for you! The whole congregation, all are holy, and Yahh is within them. So why do you exalt yourselves over the community of Yahh?”

            1Datan and Aviram b’neiEliav, and On benPelet–all b’neiR’uven– 2rose before Mosheh,

8Mosheh said to Korach, “Listen, please, b’neiLevi. 9Is it too little for you that the god of Yisrael distinguished you from the congregation of Yisrael, drawing you to himself? To serve the service of the Mishkan Yahh? To stand before the congregation to minister them? 10And he drew you near with all your brothers, b’neiLevi, with you. And you seek also priesthood?

5He spoke to Korach and all his congregation, “By morning Yahh will make known who is his. He’ll draw to himself the holy one. The one he’ll choose is the one he’ll draw near to himself.

6Do this Korach and all his congregation: take yourselves firepans. 7Tomorrow put fire in them and, before Yahh, set incense on top. What will happen: the man that Yahh will choose–he is the holy one.” A lot for you, b’neiLevi!

4Mosheh listened and fell on his face.

11What is it, Aharon, that you are complaining about? Thus it is against Yahh that you and all your congregation are met.”

16Moshe said to Korach, “Tomorrow, you and all your congregation, you and they, and Aharon.

17Each man take his firepan and put on them incense. Offer them before Yahh, each man his firepan, 250 firepans, and you and Aharon each his firepan.”

12Mosheh sent to summon Datan and Aviram, b’neiEliav, and they said. “We will not come up. 13Is it to little that you brought us up from a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? That you should also rule? Rule over us? Indeed! 14Not to a land flowing with milk and honey have you brought us, so that you could give us a field portion, a vineyard. Did you gouge those men’s eyes? We will not come up!”

18So each man took his firepan, put fire on them and set incense on them. They stood at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, with Mosheh and Aharon. 19Korach ganged up the whole congregation against them towards the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, when the honor of Yahh appeared to the entire congregation.

20Yahh spoke to Mosheh and Aharon, 21“Separate yourselves from the midst of this congregation and I shall finish them off in a moment.”

22They fell on their faces and said, “Mighty One, god of spirits for all flesh! One man sins and you rage against the entire congregation?”

23Yahh spoke to Mosheh, 24“Speak to the congregation, saying: ‘Get up from around the Mishkan (of Korach, Datan, and Aviram).’” 27They were gotten up from around the Mishkan (of Korach, Datan, and Aviram).

15Mosheh was hot with anger and said to Yahh, “Don’t turn to their offering. I have not lifted a single ass from them nor have I done bad to one of them.”

35Fire came out from Yahh and consumed the 250 men who had brought near the incense.

25Mosheh rose and went to Datan and Aviram. The Yisrael elders followed him. 26He spoke to the congregation,

“Turn from the tents of these wicked men. Touch nothing of theirs lest you be swept away with all their sins.

27Datan and Aviram came out, standing at the entrance of their tents with their women, children, and toddlers.

28Moshe said, “With this you shall know that Yahh sent me to do all these things–it’s not just from my heart. 29If these die the death of the rest of humanity, if the order of the rest of humanity is ordered on them, then Yahh has not sent me. 30And if Yahh creates a creation and the earth opens her mouth and swallows them and all of theirs and they descend to Sh’ol alive, then you’ll know that these men have contemned Yahh.”
31It happened as he finished speaking all these words: the earth split beneath them. 32The land opened her mouth and swallowed them and their houses, every person and all the property of [Datan and Aviram. Deut 11:6]( Korach). 33They and all of theirs descended to Sh’ol alive and the land covered over them. They were lost from the midst of the community. 34All Yisrael around them fled at their sound, for they said, “Lest the land swallow us up.”
